Keeping hair in good condition can be a challenge, and finding a shampoo that leaves you feeling clean, but is also gentle and nourishing, isn’t easy – and can often prove costly. Speaking from personal experience, I find I spend less time choosing shampoo as it’s just one of the constants in our lives. Much like with soap, shower lotion and even toothpaste, from a young age, we get into the habit of using them daily, to the point where adding them to our shopping carts is second nature.
But how many times have you brought home a new product, only to use it a couple of times and decide it’s not the one? Or, after a few weeks, noticed hair’s looking dull and lifeless – throwing out a half-full bottle in favour of a new option. And so the cycle begins again…
I’ll admit I’m 100% guilty of all of the above, and when I get sent shampoos to test, I’m always slightly cynical about how long they’re going to last on my shelf – and, more importantly, whether I’ll buy them again. One that I’ve stuck to for so long, however, is the Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Therapy shampoo and conditioner duo from Natural World. The brand, based in Soho, London, prides itself on being ‘superfood for hair’ – and its formula is unbeatable in my opinion.
Both the shampoo and conditioner are infused with keratin – a type of protein that makes up the hair, skin, and nails – and a blend of 4 essential oils, including Rosemary, Lemongrass, Orange, and Ylang Ylang. Together, they provide targeted repair to the most damaged areas of the hair’s surface, helping to control frizz and restore shine. The result is a pair of products that look and smell as good as they work, leaving hair with more volume and life, and a bit of a bounce – if you know what I mean.
Moreover, the formula is comprised of 95% naturally derived ingredients and is totally free of parabens, phosphates, phthalates, dyes, and gluten – which, if like me you reach for the bleach all too often, is always a good sign. And, although I use semi-permanent toner on my hair and would often use dedicated products to wash to extend the life of the colour, I found this shampoo and conditioner doesn’t strip it away at all – which not only saves buying various products, but also makes it easier to avoid associated chemicals.
Overall, these are two products I can’t imagine being without and, if you have damaged hair, or use a lot of chemicals and colourants, and want to maintain good condition, this is one brand/product line I’d definitely recommend. It’s also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free – and the best part? Far from the extortionate costs of similar quality products, this duo is readily available at just £4.30 for 500ml and £6.50 for 1 litre! Need I say more…
