Who doesn’t love a gadget? Christmas morning isn’t the same without some kind of new device you can’t wait to plug in and test out. And, more often than not, for me, that means some kind of grooming accessory that I’ve mulled over for hours online before, but never plucked up the courage to click ‘order’. Well, it’s probably less about courage and more because my bank balance wouldn’t allow for it if we’re being honest…
With so much on the market, it can be difficult to know where to start. What’s good? What’s not? Is it worth the money? Aaaaaargh! We all know the feeling. But this year I’ve tested out so many great grooming and beauty gadgets I wanted to share some of my absolute favourites – from high end to high street – that would make the perfect gift over the holidays.
Christmas shopping? Check out…
Check out five of my absolute favourites, and let me know your favourite grooming and beauty tools in the comments below!
PMD Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device
I LOVE a cleansing device! In fact, I remember when the Clarisonic first came out – I mean, I was probably about 6 – pouring over them in magazines, desperate to get my hands on one. Yes, the writing was on the wall even back then. To be honest, I think anything that encourages people to cleanse properly is great, and I’m absolutely all for it.
Now, of course, there are dozens upon dozens of cleansing devices available on the market, and one of my favourites that I tested this year is this brilliant little tool from PMD. The design is sleek, the product is simple, but the effect is really good. It comes with four adjustable settings that tailor to your skin’s requirements and work to stimulate collagen production while washing away dirt and make-up.
That’s the cleansing side, but on the reverse, there’s also a skin massage tool, that can be used with serums and moisturisers for a more luxurious application. That’s one of many reasons I love this; it’s cordless and takes AA batteries, and it’s also made of silicone, meaning no brush heads to replace – and it’s super easy to clean. It retails at £89, but it’s a gift that’ll last a lifetime, so definitely worth the cost.
Braun All-In-One MGK3085 Trimming Kit
When it comes to good quality electric shavers, there’s a misconception you’ve got to spend big money to find one that lives up to its name. Right? Wrong. Nowadays, electric shavers are arguably more commonplace than the traditional manual kind, and the kits from Braun especially are on another level when it comes to value for money.
If you’re looking for a one-stop purchase that has – literally – everything you could ever want/need and more, then this is the one for you. The set comes with 4 trimming heads, an edging blade, an ear and nose trimmer, body grooming tool, and Gilette manual razor for clean shaving. I mean, there’s really nothing else you could ever need.
1 hour of charging gives you an hour of shaving, which isn’t too bad, and the shaver can be used wet or dry, and is even waterproof for in-shower use. But the best part of this kit? It’s super cheap. It’s £46.54 on Amazon right now – which, for a beard, hair, body, ear and nose trimmer, is an absolute steal!
Kitsch Cleanse Ritual Crystal Face Roller
On a slightly lower price point, this is one of those tools that – honestly – I’m not 100% sure is a necessity in anyone’s routine at all. In fact, it’s not – but I love it, and to me, Christmas is all about giving those things someone wouldn’t necessarily buy for themselves, but given half the chance would snatch them up right away. That’s what you’re getting here.
These crystal face rollers seem to have popped up all of a sudden – I don’t know, in fact, where they actually came from – but they’re great… in a weird way. Now, you’re supposed to use these with a cleanser and work them across your face to make sure it does its stuff. However, I like to use mine with serums too, or even just as a cooling tool when I’m getting a bit hot and bothered.
These sell for around £20 and, again, for a gift that’s not bad. What I’ll also say for them is they look and feel good – perhaps more expensive than they actually are. So, if you want to give something that’s a little unusual but practical and affordable too, this is the one for you.
StylSmile Lighten Up! Light Accelerated Tooth Brush
Before I even start this I want to make it clear – this brush ain’t responsible for my white teeth. In fact, I’ve written about my whitening treatments and the care I take to maintain my teeth in separate posts, so do check them out for more on that. However, I was sent this brush a couple of months back, and it really is great for not only maintaining, but also lifting your teeth a good few shades at home.
The kit uses blue light technology to whiten teeth, with a whitening tray and the brush itself offering the treatment for a combined effect. Also included is a powerful peroxide-free whitening toothpaste proven to whiten teeth, while also boasting anti-plaque and long-lasting bacteria benefits. What I think is great about this kit is it’s so easy to slot into your daily routine because it’s literally something we all do anyway. So, for a gift that’s not going to get forgotten, this is a top choice.
Money-wise, it retails for £149.99. Pricey? Yes. However, bear in mind the cost of whitening, and the particularly good effect this kit has. It’s definitely not the kind of gift you’ll be handing out to everyone, but if you know someone who is looking to whiten their teeth, it really is a gift worth giving and could have cost significantly in the future.
Finally, this really is one of my favourite tools – and for someone special, its everything they could want and more. This little gadget does so much I’ve literally spent hours playing with it, and I’m not sure I’ve discovered it all yet. It’s basically a glorified pedicure tool – that you can use on your entire body. I mean, what could be better?
Ok, so it does what you can do with a scrubber in the shower – but we all know that kind of abrasive exfoliation isn’t the best, and this is super gentle and great for all skin types. The device adapts itself continuously to your body’s unique curves as it glides long, meaning you get an even treatment that’s not harsh and just leaves your skin feeling so so soft.
The best part – it’s £99! Yes it sounds pricey to begin with, but if you’re paying £20 for those pedicure tools with heads that need replacing, you’ll soon rack up the cost. Whereas with this, it’s all-in-one, nothing needs replacing and, when it comes to gifting, I can’t think of a single person that wouldn’t be able to make use of it. I LOVE it!
