When I woke up for work this morning it was dark out – how nuts is that? 6:55 am and for a second I thought my alarm was glitching. It’s properly Autumn, and the days are getting shorter and shorter – which, if you’re anything like me, is the perfect excuse to cancel plans and settle down for a cosy night in. Don’t try and deny it, we’d all rather stay home and warm than drag ourselves out when it’s dark at 5 pm.
Yep, I’m such a homebody, and I make no apologies for it. But if I’m staying in, I’m doing it in style – and you should too. There are some must-haves I can’t do without at this time of year, so I wanted to share them with you guys right here. So forget about crawling into bed and loading Netflix on your laptop – what fun is that? Think of this as a slumber party for one (or two, if you like – Toby also loves to join in!)
So, lock the doors, draw the blinds – crank the heating up, if you haven’t already – and just breathe. TV on, feet up, wine optional (said no one, ever). Staying in is the new going out.
#1 Hoodie – Dunelm Teddy Bear Marl Grey Hoodie
Ok, so it’s no exaggeration when I say this hoodie is LIFECHANGING! I kid you not I wear mine every day from October to April, without exception – I just can’t get enough of it. True to its namesake, this hoodie from Dunelm feels just like a teddy bear. So soft, so warm and oh so comfortable. They do an entire range, actually – including bathrobes, blankets, slippers etc. – which I was tempted to include. Click the link above and check them out – you won’t regret it!
#2 Candle – Diptyque Ambre
I’m not a candle snob at all, and I’m equally as happy to burn a £5 scent as I am a luxury £100 fragrance. But, sometimes you gotta have a bit of luxury, and the Diptyque Ambre scent is one of my all-time favourites. It’s just so rich and warm and, really, everything you want when you’re trying to escape the cold outside. Plus, I love the colour of the jar! Looking for a cheap alternative? The Amber Noir range from Shearer Candles is a real close contender (and a fraction of the price).
#3 Blanket – H&M Home Faux Fur Blanket
In the depts of winter, you’ll find me crawling around my flat, wrapped in at least 3 blankets at any one time. Yes, I feel the cold, so the more throws, blankets and – let’s face it – anything I can get to snuggle into, the better. I love this faux fur blanket from H&M Home. I’m constantly in awe of the quality of their products, and this is no exception. Slightly on the pricey side, but this is one store I don’t mind spending because I know it’ll last.

#4 Face Mask – Neutrogena HydroBoost Mask
A night in isn’t a night in without a face mask, and I could, of course, have chosen a number of top picks to go in here. However, I opted for this one – it’s the Neutorgena HydroBoost Radiance Mask, and its the perfect way to rejuvenate your skin when it’s been exposed to the elements all day. Set it in place, sit back and relax – which moves me on quite nicely…
#5 Hot Chocolate – Sweet Freedom
If there’s one thing that’ll make me put down the wine on a cold winter night it’s a hot chocolate – and the range from Sweet Freedom is the perfect low-calorie alternative. Offering a range of syrups – plain and flavoured – just add hot milk for a hearty, rich drink that’s healthy too (well, not quite, but it’s better for you, so one step closer…). Not only are these great for hot chocolate, but you can also use them as sauces and drizzles for desserts. All in all, they define ‘must-have’!
#6 TV – Netflix
Who doesn’t love a good Netflix sesh? I’m obsessed with so many series at the minute and feel like I’ve been waiting for new editions of my favourite shows. Right now I’m watching Marianne – terrifying but so good! I’m also loving Another Life – which doesn’t have the best reviews, but I’m quite into it. Otherwise, I’m waiting for new episodes of Lost In Space, which I loved! But who cares about my recommendations – just put a good throwback on and chill!
#7 Pizzaaaaaaa – Dominos
No night in is complete without pizza – so get on that app and start ordering! Get yourself a deal – even if you’re alone – and save the other half for the morning. Trust me, once you open a bottle of wine you won’t regret it… and neither will your hangover…
